``The Messiah (Jesus) has set us free so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom.

So keep on standing firm in it, and stop putting yourselves under the yoke of slavery again.`` Gal. 5:1 (ISV)

Rev. 12:10 (KJV) describes salvation as ‘the accuser being cast down’

We experience salvation by “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” 2 Cor. 10:5 (KJV)

We have often understood this to refer to thoughts of an external nature (e.g. thoughts of performing a sin) but it also speaks to the thoughts we have about ourselves, that are often in conflict with who God knows us to be.

‘Self Talk’ should line up with the finished work of the cross, and Christ's obedience to it.

He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. Col.2:14(NLT)

FREEDOM IS A DAILY WALK

The following are suggested for daily use to help you ‘work out your salvation’

  • Give thanks – confess the general areas in which you have received freedom positively and gratefully in prayer (see Rom.10:9,10)
  • Be quick to forgive – remember this is a choice  It does not say what happened to you or what someone did is ok. It does not mean you have to trust that person. It simply means you are giving the situation to God, trusting Him to bring healing to your emotions
  • Avoid deliberate sin – but remember if you sin we have an advocate – a public defender (1John2:1)
  • Meet each day trusting in God`s power to help you make right choices – rely on the Holy Spirit
  • Feed yourself with the word of God – read your bible
  • Feed yourself on what your Father says about you
  • Ask Him how he sees you
  • Ask him if there is any lie you have believed about Him or yourself
  • Forgive anyone who helped form that lie
  • Confess partnering with that lie
  • Ask Holy Spirit what the truth is
  • Confess / Declare the truth

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual

by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. (KJV)

  • Keep your focus on what God is doing
  • Don’t allow the enemy to accuse the Father by focusing on what you perceive He is not doing
  • Encourage yourself in the Lord – feed yourself on testimonies of God’s goodness
